How We Rank Doctors
Last updated: June 2026
Find A Doctor Hub orders doctor search results to help patients find a relevant, currently-practicing provider — not to favor any commercial relationship. Here is exactly what goes into the order you see.
Signals we use
- Relevance — match between your search (specialty, condition, language, insurance) and the provider profile
- Location proximity — distance from the city or ZIP code you entered
- Profile completeness — verified credentials, address, hours, languages, accepted insurance
- Acceptance signals — accepts new patients, telehealth availability, recent activity on the profile
- Verification status — claimed and verified profiles surface above unclaimed ones at equal relevance
What we don't do
- We do not accept payment to rank a specific provider higher in organic results.
- We do not hide or down-rank providers because they declined to claim or pay for a listing.
- We do not use review counts alone as a ranking signal — high-volume providers are not automatically promoted.
Sponsored placements
If a result is sponsored, it is labeled Sponsored and shown separately from organic results. Sponsored placement does not affect a provider's organic ranking.
Changing the order
You can re-sort search results by distance, new-patient acceptance, telehealth, language, and insurance using the filters at the top of any search page.
Medical emergency? If this is a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Find A Doctor Hub does not provide emergency services.
