How to Find a Telehealth Doctor
Telehealth is often the fastest path to care. Here's how to find a licensed virtual provider and what they can — and can't — handle.
What telehealth handles well
- Primary care for routine issues and follow-ups
- Mental health: therapy and psychiatric medication management
- Dermatology for rashes, acne, and skin checks (with photos)
- Birth control, refills, and travel medicine
- ADHD evaluation and ongoing care
What still requires in-person care
- Anything needing a physical exam, imaging, or labs that day
- Procedures and surgeries
- Many controlled-substance prescriptions (varies by state)
- Acute issues that may need urgent care or the ER
Confirm before booking
- The provider is licensed in your state — telehealth licensure is state-based.
- The platform takes your insurance, or pricing is clear if cash-pay.
- Notes can be shared with your primary care doctor.
